Well, I've heard about jumping the shark, but then again, I wrote the other blog posting you referred to, so that probably doesn't count.

But more to the point, the definitive work on the randomness of iTunes ran about a year ago in the New York Times:

Personally, I'm always curious how my iPod knows to play an Ernie tune right after a Bert tune..

that's a negative on shark-jumping for me, and I did sometimes watch the show...

I had heard about it, but only by having come upon that very website by accident at one point. I've never heard anyone use it in conversation though.

I've come across "jumping the shark" a few times before - mostly in newspaper articles about TV shows or TV shows about pop culture.
